Terms & Conditions

By downloading, installing, or using the MAS Lantern mobile application (“App”), you agree to be bound by these Terms & Conditions (“Terms”). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the App.

These Terms apply to all users of the App, including administrators, staff, teachers, and parents or guardians. The App is operated by Nilesoft LLC (“we,” “us,” or “our”) on behalf of the Muslim American Society Chicago chapter (“MAS Chicago”).

MAS Lantern is a school and community management platform that provides:

• Student enrollment and program management
• Attendance tracking and dismissal coordination
• Parent-teacher and staff communication tools
• Push notifications for school announcements and alerts
• Secure access to student and family records based on user role

We reserve the right to modify, suspend, or discontinue the App or any feature at any time with or without notice.

The App is intended for use by authorized personnel only. Access requires an invitation or account creation by an organization administrator. By creating an account, you represent that:

• You are at least 18 years of age
• You are authorized by MAS Chicago to access the App in your stated role
• All information you provide is accurate and current
• You will maintain the security of your account credentials

You are responsible for all activity that occurs under your account. Notify us immediately at info@nilesoft.dev if you suspect unauthorized access.

You agree not to use the App to:

• Access data you are not authorized to view based on your role
• Share your login credentials with any other person
• Harass, threaten, or harm any student, parent, or staff member
• Upload or transmit malicious code, viruses, or harmful content
• Attempt to reverse engineer, decompile, or extract source code
• Use the App for any commercial purpose outside of MAS Chicago operations
• Circumvent or disable any security or access control feature
• Violate any applicable local, state, federal, or international law

Violation of these terms may result in immediate account termination and, where appropriate, referral to law enforcement.

The App handles student education records as defined under the Family Educational Rights and Privacy Act (FERPA). All users with access to student data must:

• Access student records only for legitimate educational purposes
• Not share or disclose student information outside of authorized channels
• Comply with MAS Chicago's data handling policies
• Report any suspected data breach or unauthorized access immediately

Parents and guardians have rights under FERPA to inspect, review, and request corrections to their child's education records. See our Privacy Policy for full details.

The App, including its design, code, content, logos, and features, is owned by Nilesoft LLC and is protected by applicable intellectual property laws. You are granted a limited, non-exclusive, non-transferable license to use the App solely for its intended purpose.

You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or lease any part of the App, nor may you reverse engineer or attempt to extract source code without our express written permission.

Your use of the App is also governed by our Privacy Policy, which is incorporated into these Terms by reference. By using the App, you consent to the data practices described in the Privacy Policy.

The App may send push notifications for dismissal alerts, announcements, and other time-sensitive information. You may disable notifications at any time through your device settings. Disabling notifications may affect your ability to receive important school communications.

THE APP IS PROVIDED “AS IS” AND “AS AVAILABLE” WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, AND NON-INFRINGEMENT.

We do not warrant that the App will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of viruses or other harmful components. We do not warrant the accuracy, completeness, or timeliness of any information provided through the App.

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY LAW, NILESOFT LLC SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING LOSS OF DATA, LOSS OF PROFITS, OR SERVICE INTERRUPTION, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE APP.

OUR TOTAL LIABILITY TO YOU FOR ANY CLAIMS ARISING FROM OR RELATING TO THESE TERMS OR THE APP SHALL NOT EXCEED THE AMOUNT YOU PAID (IF ANY) TO ACCESS THE APP IN THE TWELVE MONTHS PRECEDING THE CLAIM.

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Nilesoft LLC, MAS Chicago, and their respective officers, directors, employees, and agents from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including attorneys' fees) arising from your use of the App, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

We may suspend or terminate your account at any time for violation of these Terms, at the direction of MAS Chicago, or for any other reason at our discretion. Upon termination, your right to use the App ceases immediately.

You may request account deletion at any time by contacting info@nilesoft.dev. Termination does not affect any rights or obligations that arose before termination.

These Terms are governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of the State of Illinois, without regard to its conflict of law provisions. Any disputes arising under these Terms shall be subject to the exclusive jurisdiction of the courts located in Cook County, Illinois.

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify users of material changes via in-app notification or email. Continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms. It is your responsibility to review these Terms periodically.
